~~Mermaid Page & Neptune Festival~~

On one of my groups Altered_stART .. We had a recent swap for a Mermaid Fat Book.. Each of us made one page..We made that page for all who signed up for the swap in our case it was 12. Some people made different pages and others the same.. The theme was Mermaid/Mer-Folk..

This is my page I created.. This is King Neptune.. This is an original photograph by me taken at the ocean front of a wonderful and large statue of King Neptune.. I love this statue and every year we even have a festival in his honor.. All kinds of events spanning over months with my favorite event ending the festival.. The Boardwalk Weekend.. Which included a world renown sand-sculpting contest.. People come from all over the world to complete and what they create will take your breath away. They have an Art & Craft show as well that I just love... all along the boardwalk.. with amazing art and crafts as well as yummy food... it is so much fun and I have been going every year since I moved here. I have included a few link at the bottom of the festival and The statue of King Neptune..I hope y'all enjoy.

OK.. I am a big fan of Project Runway.. I know it is reality television which a lot of it I don't care for.. But there are two factors I love in this show...1. The contestants create something with there own two hands and 2. The judges are professionals and not a popularity contest for people to call in to.

One of challenges this past season was to create their own fabric.. How cool is that. Now I never realized till I was looking through some sites and came upon a site called SpoonFlower ..That on this site you can download an original image of yours and they will create fabric using your image for you to use in your own sewing creations.. How cool is that to be able to do this yourself... and the fabric they offer for sale is amazing... Not the everyday fabric you find in stores.. So go check them out..

~~Getting Back To Me~~

I have gotten away from focusing on me... Something I am very good at ... forgetting about.. Taking time for myself .. Sanity time.. Getting back to my art and getting out and enjoying life.. I also want to focus on expressing myself more through creative means and not being afraid of what other might think. So here is my first entry in some time. Some art and a few word and I am going to try and post everyday. This is my creative blog.. I am going to keep things possitive and up-beat to help be focus on being this way in my everyday life.

This is what I have been up to.. These groups are amazing full of fabulous people and they help me keep my sanity and creativity going. I am currently working on an Black and While Altered Canvas Round Robin, Art Journal Round Robin, Mail Art Swap, Finshing up the Mermaid Fat Book Swap, Altered Spoon Swap the 4 Seasons, Gathering idea for a Halloween Fat Book and Tag Book coming up, And a sewn beaded art doll.. A first time for this I am scared and excited.. So much to do but I am loving it.

~~Flower Fairies~~

These are the first three paper dolls I have ever done.. They are flower fairies.. Yellow rose fairy, nature fairy, Patriotic fairy. They are for a yahoo group called Altered_stART. A great group of talented people.

~~Peace~~

I made this from a 8x10 canvas collaged with pattern paper and sealed with gel medium. Then I added an image I love.. A very tranquil image of the Tea Garden Bridge in California. The photo was taken by Thea Schrack in 1995. I trimmed the image in brown thin ribbon. I wanted a very natural flow with this project. I added the peace quote (Author Unknown) and trimmed the corner with tiny feathers. I added what used to be a piece for a necklace of two nesting birds on a branch to the center. I trimmed the whole canvas in crushed cork. Keeping with the the antiqued silver of the nesting birds I used silver charms and a skeleton key, along with amber colored beads and glass amber crystals with antiqued small dominoes along the bottom to create just the right finishing touch to the piece. It is exactly as I envisioned it and am very pleased with the end results.
